Zimbabwe's iconic mbira music instrument will take center stage tonight as the country hosts the "Bira Rembira Festival" at Gwanzura Stadium.
A star-studded lineup, including superstar Jah Prayzah, Diana Samkange, Andy Muridzo, Vee Mhofu, Kurai Makore, Hope Masike, Sasha Madhuve, Nyamasvisva and Gushungo, is set to entertain the fans.
Organizers, Chipaz Promotions, in partnership with Jive Zimbabwe and the Government, have promised an unforgettable experience to celebrate our rich heritage.
"We have designed this concert to celebrate the mbira instrument and also showcase some of our local artists who have excelled locally and internationally with the instrument," said Chipaz.
"This event is aimed at reviving the instrument's popularity in the country as part of our cultural and historical significance.
"Everything is set and we are inviting all mbira music lovers to join us in their numbers at the festival," Chipaz added.
The mbira instrument is regarded highly in Zimbabwe.
Over the years, various musicians such as the late Mbuya Stella Chiweshe, Chioniso Maraire and Thomas Mapfumo defined Zimbabwean music through the use of the instrument.
Modern-day stars have also incorporated mbira into their music genres, making it a symbol of Zimbabwe's cultural heritage.
Tickets to the show are going for US$5 for the rest of the ground, US$10 VIP and US$50 VVIP.
Organizers say they will allow fans in for free before 6 pm.
Gates open at 3 pm.
