The United States Agency for International Development has announced a new project aimed at enhancing global health security and pandemic preparedness. This initiative will focus on strengthening the capacity of partner countries to prevent, detect, and respond to emerging infectious diseases.
The project, known as Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems, will work closely with partner countries to establish more robust, reliable, and secure laboratories. By investing in these critical infrastructure components, USAID aims to improve the ability of countries to identify and respond to potential outbreaks.
"In more than 50 countries, USAID is strengthening the specific components necessary for strong global health security and pandemic preparedness," stated USAID. "The work of STRIDES will be integral to these efforts and to USAID's role in achieving the United States commitment to apply a whole-of-government and science-based approach to strengthening global health."
STRIDES will be implemented by a consortium led by FHI 360, in collaboration with PATH, Black and Veatch, Panagora Group, and six regional health organizations. This collaborative effort will leverage the expertise of these organizations to deliver comprehensive and effective solutions.
Through this initiative, USAID seeks to build a more resilient global health system capable of addressing current and future health challenges.
