A Warpack Zimbabwe Private Limited sales agent, Kozanai Masunungure, has been arrested for allegedly pocketing over US$5,000 in client payments instead of remitting the funds to his employer.
Masunungure, who appeared in the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with theft of trust property, was released on US$100 bail as investigations continue.
The State alleges that on October 4, Masunungure collected US$1,253.80 from People's Shop in Norton, which he was supposed to deliver to Warpack Zimbabwe. However, he failed to do so.
On October 14, he allegedly misappropriated a further US$200.40 from Kerry’s Shop and US$4,044.38 from Corner Shop T/A Sanernest Trading Private Limited in Harare’s CBD.
The discrepancies were discovered, prompting Warpack Zimbabwe to report the matter to the police on November 1. This led to Masunungure’s arrest.
The alleged theft has left the company counting losses amounting to US$5,498.58.
Masunungure is expected back in court as the case proceeds.
