ANC Confirms Expulsion of Former President Jacob Zuma

The African National Congress has reaffirmed its decision to expel former president Jacob Zuma, rejecting his October appeal against the disciplinary action.

Zuma faced expulsion in July after being found guilty of tarnishing the party's reputation by forming and campaigning for a rival political organization. He currently leads the uMkhonto weSizwe Party, which has been linked to the ANC's diminished performance in recent general elections.

Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri, the ANC's national spokesperson, emphasized the party's commitment to upholding discipline and integrity among its leaders:

"As a former president of the ANC, Zuma was expected to demonstrate the highest standards of disciplined leadership. His actions betrayed the principles expected of our advanced cadres, who serve as role models for our movement and society at large."

The ANC's national disciplinary committee concluded that Zuma’s conduct was incompatible with the values of the party, solidifying his removal.
