Man Drags Pedestrian Under Car After Accident

Kudakwashe Nikarara has appeared in the Harare Magistrates' Courts facing charges of negligent driving after allegedly hitting a pedestrian and dragging him under his vehicle in Harare's Central Business District.

The incident occurred on December 4, 2024, at around 12:15 PM at the intersection of Robert Mugabe Road and Angwa Street. Nikarara, who was driving a Toyota Wish with registration number AED 8310, is accused of hitting Muranganwa Michael, who was crossing the road.

According to the State, Nikarara dragged Michael under the car for a distance stretching from the corner of Robert Mugabe and Angwa Street to Orr Street. 

The pedestrian sustained severe injuries to his head, face, chest, and left shoulder, along with bruises on both legs. He was rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital, where his condition remains serious.

Nikarara's vehicle, which sustained damage to its right front mirror, was impounded and sent to the Vehicle Inspection Department for assessment. 

He was arrested and remains in custody pending further proceedings.
