A Harare man has been arraigned on charges of armed robbery after allegedly stealing a mobile phone.
Bruce Chingoka, 29, appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Court and is set to return for trial on January 13, 2025.
According to the prosecution, on August 27, Chingoka and his accomplices—who remain at large—allegedly broke into the complainant's house around 4:30 AM.
It is alleged that the group scaled a precast wall to access the yard and entered the house through the kitchen door. Armed with an unidentified pistol, they reportedly confronted the complainant, ordered her to lie down, and searched the house.
The suspects allegedly stole an Itel A56 phone valued at US$80 before fleeing the scene.
Chingoka is currently in custody pending trial.
