Zimbabwe national soccer player Kuda Mahachi was acquitted of the two separate counts of attempted murder by Bulawayo regional magistrate Mark Dzira.

The Warriors star was facing two counts of attempting to kill his son.

The magistrate said the State failed to prove the essential elements of the case, arguing also that the evidence given by the witnesses was contradictory and disjointed.

The court heard that on a date between 25 February and 14 April 2022, Mahachi assaulted his son with an iron bar on the head and mouth.

The footballer was also alleged to have poured hot water all over his son’s body before assaulting him with a charger cable all over the body.

The magistrate said the complainant gave contradictory statements during cross-examination and together with the inconsistent testimonies from witnesses, it was difficult to ascertain who was telling the truth.

The magistrate further said medical experts could not figure out the cause of the injuries hence the dismissal of the case and Mahachi’s acquittal.
