Leeroy, a BSc Radiology and Imaging Technology student at Guru Kashi University since 2023, remains in a critical condition at AIIMS Bathinda after sustaining severe head injuries on Wednesday.

Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police Amneet Kondal confirmed that the four suspects have been booked under attempt to murder charges. This comes after revelations that Leeroy had a heated altercation with a university guard the day before the assault.

Police say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact role of each accused in the attack. Leeroy was first treated at Talwandi Sabo Civil Hospital before being referred to AIIMS due to the seriousness of his injuries.

The case has sparked renewed concern over the safety of African students in India, where incidents of violence and discrimination have previously made headlines.
