Hardrock FC climbed to the summit of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table following a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Bulawayo Chiefs at Chahwanda Stadium on Saturday.
A tightly contested first half gave way to a dramatic second period as the hosts capitalized on their chances. Washington Navaya broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute, slotting home his 17th goal of the campaign to firmly cement his place at the top of the league's goalscoring charts. Neliswa Dlamini then put the result beyond doubt, sealing the three points with a clinical finish deep into stoppage time.
The victory propelled Hardrock to 63 points, capitalizing on a slip-up by former leaders Scottland FC, who dropped to second place after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat away to ZPC Kariba. Brian Kusinyera proved to be the hero for ZPC Kariba, finding the back of the net in the 65th minute to hand his side a crucial home win.
Elsewhere in Matchday 30 action, Chicken Inn and FC Platinum played out a cagey, goalless stalemate, while MWOS secured an impressive 2-0 away victory against Herentals. FC Hunters edged Agama 2-1 in a five-goal thriller, and Manica Diamonds shared the spoils with TelOne following a scoreless draw.
