Dynamos Football Club founding member Bernard Marriot Lusengo's bid for freedom has been dealt a significant blow. Harare magistrate Ms Yeukai Dzuda dismissed Lusengo's application for discharge at the close of the State's case, ruling that he has a case to answer and must be put to his defence.

At the heart of the matter are allegations that Lusengo corruptly acquired 51% shareholding in the club and allocated shares to undeserving individuals who are not part of the club's original membership. Investigations have revealed that Lusengo declared himself the club's chairman, defying a High Court order issued by Justice Luke Malaba in 2005. This order stipulated that each founding member should receive a 1% share.

Lusengo's actions have been deemed a clear violation of the court's ruling, and he now faces charges of fraud. The complainant in the matter is Leslie Gwindi, and Lusengo was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.

As the case unfolds, one thing is certain – the future of Dynamos FC hangs in the balance. Will Lusengo's defence be enough to clear his name, or will justice prevail? The football community waits with bated breath for the outcome of this dramatic saga
