Gospel musician Temba Tagwirei, popularly known as “Thembalami” is set to release his fifth studio album titled Not Going Back today, celebrating 10 years as a solo gospel artist.

For the past 10 years, Thembalami has managed to record four studio albums and two live recording albums as well as various singles.

He said, he released the first single of the album Good Good in the beginning of this year and last week he released the second track, Tevera.

“The whole album is going to be released tonight and I am so excited about this album and what God is doing in our lives,” said Thembalami.

He said this year also marks his first conference The Inspired Worship that will be done every year and he is so excited about the work that he is doing with churches in training musicians and local artists on different aspects of music from the technicalities of music and running teams.

Thembalami embarked on a solo music career in 2010 just after working with Zimpraise on two music projects and he launched his first album Brighter Day in 2012.

He said that there were also financial challenges in his journey of music.

“When you are starting a music ministry from scratch there are some challenges, but you have to scrounge for resources all the time for you to make sure that you bring out a good offering but also, I have had the blessing of corporates and individuals that have worked with us to achieve our goals and make sure that we have managed to record,” said Thembalami.

He also advised upcoming artistes to focus on vision than awards.

“Even though we get awards and we have award ceremonies, we all do not start at the same place and we do not have the same resources, talent, target market, with that in mind awards are great but focus more on value and showing that you are ready to work that will separate you from the rest because your vision and goals will see yourself doing better than going after awards,” he said.

Thembalami has won awards locally and regionally. He holds the Maranatha Best Collaboration Song of the Year with Janet Manyowa, the PERMICAN Artist of the Year in 2015 and the Maranatha Southern Africa Song of the Year.
