Khama Billiat has ignited a flame of optimism within the Warriors camp, warmly welcoming Knowledge Musona's return to the national fold. Musona's decision to end his international retirement, a move orchestrated by Coach Michael Nees, has been hailed as a masterstroke, injecting a surge of experience and leadership into the team ahead of crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Musona, who stepped away from national duty in May 2022 to focus on his club career, has answered the call, ready to don the Warriors jersey once more. "Having Knowledge, with his experience, is a great motivation," Billiat told ZBC News, his voice brimming with enthusiasm. "We have worked with him in the past, and it feels great. It has been a long time waiting for him and finally he’s here."
Billiat emphasized the invaluable contribution Musona brings to the team. "We need his experience, and it is going to add a lot (to the team). A great leader and person, having him back is going to be a great motivation," he declared, painting a vivid picture of Musona's influence.
The Warriors, gearing up for pivotal Group C encounters against Benin and Nigeria, are poised to leverage Musona's seasoned presence. "We're taking every game as it comes, we will focus on doing our best. The first one is in SA (against Benin), so we focus on that now," Billiat said, his focus sharp and resolute. The team's journey begins at Moses Mabida Stadium in Durban, South Africa, where they will face Benin on Thursday. From there, they will embark on a challenging trip to Uyo, Nigeria, to confront the Super Eagles on Monday.
