The Vatican has played host to thousands of pilgrims and prominent leaders from around the world as they gather to pay their respects to Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday at the age of 88. The funeral Mass, held six days after he delivered his Easter blessing to the crowds at St Peter’s Square, marks a sombre occasion for Catholics and world leaders alike.

Among the notable attendees are United States President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. Former United States President Joe Biden is also in attendance, a testament to the Pope's far-reaching influence and respect globally.

Zimbabwe is represented by Vice President General (Retired) Dr. Constantino Chiwenga, a devout Catholic, who has traveled to the Vatican to pay his respects to the late Pope. The gathering is a reflection of Pope Francis's impact on the world stage, transcending borders, cultures, and faiths.
