FC Platinum forward Walter Musona was last night crowned winner of the soccer star of the year award at a ceremony where CAPS United forward William Manondo and Dynamos defender Frank Mukarati came out as first and second runner-up respectively.

Musona walked away with a US$5 000 cheque for emerging the Premier Soccer League king, while Manondo got US$3 000 and Mukarati US$2 500.

Manondo was a double winner as his 17 goals for the Green Machine this season also earned him the Golden Boot Award as no-one beat the 31-year-old’s goal tally. He got another US$2 000.

Although his side struggled throughout the season, Manondo’s boot saved the fading Harare giants from the dreaded chop.

Ngezi Platinum Stars Shot-stopper Nelson Chadya was crowned Goalkeeper of the Year for his 19 clean sheets while Pure Platinum Play gaffer Norman Mapeza was crowned Coach of the Year, his third such award after guiding the platinum miners to a fourth straight title.

Mapeza had bagged four Coach of the Month honours during the season.

Tinotenda Benza of Herentals won the inaugural Fans’ Choice Award after 9 179 online voters picked him.

Relegated Whawha’s Jayden Barake was crowned as the Most Promising Player in the PSL while the Referee of the Year Award went to Martin Chivandire with Faith Mloyi and Tafadzwa Nkala coming out as first and second runner-up respectively.
