A 54-year old man who moved in back with mama at 39 has been given a few weeks to find his own place by the court.
Ronia Fombe, 85, took her son, Joshua Fombe, 54, to the Harare Civil Court accusing him of perpetrating violence on her elderly person.
She indicated that she could no longer live with the adult offspring because of this.
"He is my lastborn son. He is in the habit of harassing me.
"I want him to live somewhere else," she said.
Joshua denied his mother's claims and implicated his sister as the instigator of dispute. He also claimed rights to the house as one of his father’s heirs.
"How can l hit a woman at this age? These are all lies, Your Honour," Joshua said.
He said his mother and wife were interfering in his personal affairs.
"The moment l introduced my wife to her that is when the problems started.
"It’s been 15 years living with my mother and we have been living peacefully.
"My wife left me 12 years ago and now l am trying to move on people are now against that," he said.
Magistrate Judith Taruvinga who presided over the case ordered Joshua to leave the house end of December 2022.
She also instructed him not to insult or harass Ronia's caregivers for the few weeks he has left to reside at the family home.
