Sany Silicon Energy has officially commenced construction of a 10MW photovoltaic power generation project for Runtu Mining in Zimbabwe, marking the company’s first solar venture in the country and its debut African project under the "EP+F" innovation model.
“This project is Sany Silicon Energy's first photovoltaic power generation project in Zimbabwe, and it is also the first African project to customize the core financial demands of customers with the ‘EP+F’ innovation model,” the company said in a statement.
Using “the most cutting-edge 710W high-efficiency PV modules independently developed and manufactured by Sany Silicon Energy,” the plant will also be equipped with “advanced inverters and high-strength brackets, which are efficient in power generation and adaptable to complex environments.”
The company noted that the total installed capacity is 10MW, and the construction period is only 3 months, with grid connection planned by the end of 2025. It is expected to generate 18 million kWh of electricity annually, which Sany says will “effectively alleviate the power shortage problem in Zimbabwe, ensure industrial and people's livelihood electricity, and promote regional energy low-carbon transformation.”
Sany described the initiative as the first ‘EP+F’ innovative business model launched by Sany Silicon Energy.” It provides “a one-stop solution for design, procurement and financing, which significantly reduces the financial pressure of the owner and provides a replicable target for overseas new energy project cooperation.
The chairman of Runtu Mining was quoted as saying “that he looks forward to deepening cooperation with Sany in the fields of microgrids, heavy truck electrification, and charging and swapping facilities in the future.”
Describing the broader strategic value, Sany said that this project is an important achievement of Sany Silicon Energy in implementing the ‘dual carbon’ strategy and deepening international cooperation. The company added, “The company will promote project construction with high standards to ensure on-time delivery and inject new impetus into Zimbabwe's energy security and sustainable development.”
“In the future, Sany Silicon Energy will continue to be driven by technological innovation, work with more partners to accelerate popularization of clean energy, and help the energy green transformation of Zimbabwe and the whole world.”
