A Harare man today approached the Harare Civil Court seeking protection from his son whom he accused of verbal abuse, disrespect, and disturbing peace at their family home.
Fungai Chibwana told the court that his son, Shepherd Chibwana, frequently comes home drunk and hurls accusations at him, including claims that he practices witchcraft, uses mubobobo and keeps zvikwambo.
“He comes home drunk and accuses me of witchcraft, saying I am the reason he is jobless and worthless,” said Chibwana.
“He even accuses me of sleeping with my own daughters. I no longer have peace in my own house.”
He said despite efforts to reason with his son, Shepherd continued to harass him and his household.
“He once told me that my reigning days were over and that he was now in charge of the house,” he said.
“My family no longer has peace.”
In response, Shepherd Chibwana admitted to the allegations and said he also preferred to stay away from his father’s house.
The Magistrate granted the protection order and ruled that Shepherd must stay several meters away from the property.
The order is valid for one year.
