A Glenview 3 woman on Tuesday appeared before Harare Magistrate Dennis Mangosi for contravening Section 3(3) of the Trafficking in Persons Act Chapter 9.25.

It is alleged that Tender Muswe, 30, together with her partners in crime -  Forward Mashonganyika (who has already appeared in court), Hassan Mohammed Ali Al Shihhi (based in Oman) and another local agent still at large, enticed job seekers to Dubai with intentions to having them sexually exploited and made to work for no payment.

Muswe and her accomplices created a WhatsApp group where they would advertise non-existing lucrative jobs in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

Tryphin Karonga, Noreen Nahuwo and Joyce Jivason fell for the trap and they were recruited with the promise of high-paying hotel jobs and lucrative working conditions and perks.

The accused and her accomplices facilitated the transportation of the victims from Zimbabwe to Oman, instead of Dubai as had earlier been promised.

The victims only realised that they had been duped upon arrival at Muscat International Airport in Oman where they were received by Muswe's accomplice, Hassan Mohammed Ali Al Shihhi, who confiscated their passports and drove them to an unknown location.

They were ordered to comply with Ali Al Shihhi ‘s orders and started being sold out to work as house maids.

in addition to sexual and physical abuse, the victims were subjected to domestic servitude, unregulated works hours, unpaid labour, being fed leftovers and forced confinement as they had no freedom of movement.

The matter came to light when the victims reported their ordeal through Interpol and relatives back home who, in turn, alerted the police. Investigations led to the arrest of Muswe.

The government of Oman has issued statements saying that it does not condone modern day slavery and urges victims or relatives of suspected victims to report to the police.
