An 85-year-old Bulawayo caretaker is fighting for his life after a frenzied woman allegedly hacked him with an axe for refusing to satisfy her sexual demands.
Police say the shocking incident unfolded at a Kensington plot around 5pm on August 10, when the suspect—described as a woman “known by face” to the victim—stormed into his room.
Without preamble, she allegedly demanded sex from the octogenarian.
When the elderly man rebuffed her advances, the woman reportedly flew into a rage, seized an axe from inside the room, and brought it crashing down on the right side of his neck, slicing deep into the flesh.
Bleeding heavily but still conscious, the old man managed to raise the alarm before collapsing. He was rushed to hospital by ambulance, where he remains under treatment.
Police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the attempted murder case, appealing for anyone with information to assist in tracking down the ax-wielding fugitive.
