Gweru Killer Peter Dube Gets Two Life Sentences for 2021 Double Murder

Peter Dube, the man behind a 2021 double murder that shocked Gweru residents, has been sentenced to two life terms plus 20 years by the Bulawayo High Court.

Justice Christopher Dube-Banda handed down the sentence on November 26, 2025, after Dube was convicted on two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

The court imposed life imprisonment for the murder of Shelton Chiduku, life imprisonment for the murder of Gamuchirai Madungwe, and an additional 10 years each for the attempted murders of Nyasha Nharingo and Nyaradzo Nharingo.

The crimes occurred on April 22, 2021, at Dube’s residence in Gweru’s central business district.

According to the court, a domestic dispute broke out after Dube found his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo, returning home accompanied by Chiduku, Madungwe, and Nyaradzo Nharingo.

During the altercation, Dube locked himself inside the apartment before re-emerging with a firearm. 

He shot Chiduku and Madungwe while they sat in a vehicle outside, then returned to the apartment and shot both Nyasha and Nyaradzo.
