Two twin brothers, Jacob and Lincoln Gono, both aged two, were burnt to death when a kitchen hut caught fire in Gwasha Village, Chimanimani.
Police said the children were playing inside while their mother had gone to a nearby shop, leaving sweet potatoes cooking on the fireplace.
The hut was engulfed in flames before the children could be rescued.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police urged members of the public to be vigilant against fire hazards.
