Chimanimani Police Officer Faces Murder Charge After Man Dies in Custody

 

A police officer stationed in Chimanimani has appeared in court facing a murder charge following the death of a 34-year-old man who was in custody.

Bhekimpilo Ncube, 35, who was in charge of the Chikukwa Police Base, is alleged to have inflicted fatal injuries on Godman Mtimba, 34, during an incident at Chikukwa Business Centre.

According to reports, Ncube received information on February 25, 2026, that Mtimba had been behaving violently in the area, leading to his apprehension.

The following day, Mtimba was taken to Chikukwa Business Centre, where Ncube was reportedly drinking beer.

It is alleged that Ncube attempted to remove Mtimba’s beard using a knife, cutting him on the chin and cheek and causing severe injuries.

The victim was rushed to Mutambara Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Ncube later surrendered himself to the police following Mtimba’s death and remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
