
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of two additional suspects linked to the high-profile murder and robbery case at Mutangadura Hideout in Ruwa, with one suspect killed following a shootout in Gweru.
In a statement dated March 20, 2026, police said the arrests follow ongoing investigations into the August 17, 2025 murder and robbery incident.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of two other suspects, Solomon Wisdom Tariro (28) as well as Samuel Munyunguma (55) in connection with the case and subsequent death of Valentine Mutasa (34) following a shootout with the police in Gweru on 19th March 2026,” the police said.
Authorities revealed that the breakthrough came after detectives received a tip-off on the suspects’ whereabouts.
“This follows a tip-off received by detectives from CID Homicide regarding the whereabouts of the suspects,” the statement read.
Police tracked the suspects to a service station in Claremount, Gweru, where a confrontation ensued.

“The suspects opened fire upon being confronted by police, leading to a shootout. The other suspect, Obedience Mutasa, managed to escape,” the ZRP said.
During the exchange, two suspects were injured and taken to hospital.
“Subsequently, Solomon Tariro and Valentine Mutasa were injured and were referred to hospital where Valentine Mutasa was pronounced dead upon admission,” police added.
Officers recovered firearms at the scene, including a 9mm Canik pistol with two live rounds and an Ekol 9mm blank pistol with two blank cartridges.
Police have since assured the public that all individuals linked to the case have now been accounted for.
“The public should take note that all the suspects in the murder of Joseph Mutangadura have all been accounted for by the Police,” the statement said.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing, while authorities continue to pursue the suspect who remains at large.
