Truck Driver Accused of Stealing Employer’s Goods Worth Thousands

A 39-year-old woman from Murehwa, Anne Nderezina, appeared before magistrate Apollonia Marutya at the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing charges of theft of trust property.

She was granted US$100 bail and is expected back in court on October 2.

The State, represented by prosecutor Takudzwa Mutyavaviri, alleges that on July 21, 2025, Nderezina, who was employed by the complainant, Shi Hongli, as a truck driver, was assigned to transport 22 empty pallets and 66 wooden boards from Kadoma to Harare.

Instead of delivering the goods, she allegedly diverted the load to a residential address at 7084 Gudo Street, Rimuka, Kadoma, intending to steal the property.

In a twist to the case, the State further alleges that on August 21, Anne filed false rape allegations against the complainant at ZRP Rhodesville in an attempt to divert attention and create an opportunity to steal more property.

While the complainant was detained by police, the accused allegedly broke into his workshop and stole 12 complete truck tyres, 20 buckets of gear oil, 20 buckets of grease, two truck buckets, 40 cargo belts, and 40 ratchets.

The total value of the stolen property is put at US$7 791.
