The city of Harare is witnessing a remarkable transformation, as residents from various high-density suburbs express widespread appreciation for the cleanup and environmental management initiatives led by Geo Pomona Waste Management (Pvt) Ltd. The company’s efforts to turn waste into a valuable resource are not only improving public health and sanitation but also earning praise from communities that have long grappled with poor waste disposal.
In Highfields, one of Harare’s most populous suburbs, the impact of Geo Pomona’s work is being felt on the ground. For years, residents have struggled with illegal dumpsites and overflowing bins. Now, they are noticing a positive change.
"It’s a huge relief to see less rubbish on our streets," said Tafadzwa Moyo, a 45-year-old Highfields resident and a local business owner. "We used to have flies and rodents everywhere, but thanks to the new waste management system, our neighborhood is much cleaner. We're grateful for the work they're doing."
Another resident, Mai Mutema, a grandmother from the same area, praised the company’s educational campaigns. "They taught us how to separate our waste properly," she explained. "This has made our community cleaner and safer for our children."
