The CID further stated that the same identity card number was appearing under two different names and dates of birth. “Could you confirm if he is the holder of the same identity card number 59-203844D-80. Whatever information furnished to us will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” the letter continued.
Detective Chief Inspector Nyoni J., the Officer In-Charge at CID Gweru, signed the letter, noting that the case is being handled under Gweru Central CR 295/10/25.
In a follow-up response from the Provincial Registrar’s Office dated 24 October 2025, it was confirmed that the national ID number in question belongs to Epany Gwawawa, born on 6 July 2001, son of Monica Gwawawa of 103 Phase 1, Demna Sake.
The registrar’s report added “Details of Tanyaradzwa Godfrey Tsiga on ID number 59-203844D-80 are not found in the registry database. There is need to investigate further on where Mr. Tsiga got that ID number card.”
The findings suggest that Tsiga’s alleged identity document may not be officially recognized, prompting authorities to pursue deeper inquiries into how the duplication occurred.
