Zimbabwe National Water Authority has said rains continue to push water levels in the country’s major dams upwards as the national dam level average stood at 81.2 percent as of 4 January, 2023, an increase of 0.1 percent from the previous levels.
It said this development points to the improving water security for the country.
As of December 7, 2022, the national dam level average was at 80.1 percent, which is higher than 59.7 percent expected during that time of the year.
Dams supplying the City of Harare have reached the following levels: Chivero 85.4%, Manyame 79. 8%, Seke 41% and Harava 28. 9%
The water levels of dams supplying the City of Bulawayo Mtshabezi is at 68. 8%, Inyankuni 37. 7%, Lower Ncema 32. 8% Mzingwane 5% and Upper Ncema is at 2. 2%.
With heavy rains expected to pound the country up to Sunday, significant changes might occur on the current dam levels.
