A man from Chidobe near Victoria Falls and his stepdaughter have been arrested and appeared in court to answer to charges of having an incestuous love affair.

Siphilanzima Sibanda, 49, of Kachechete Village BH36 Chidobe and his stepdaughter Thuleleni Dube, 34, who appeared briefly before Victoria Falls magistrate Godswill Dube, are being jointly charged with having sexual intercourse within a prohibited degree of relationship.

The matter was rolled over to today and they have not been asked to plead.

The two, according to court documents, live at the same homestead.

The two started having a relationship in June last year when Sibanda’s wife Sikhohlisiwe Mpofu, travelled to Bulawayo and stayed there for three months.

Mpofu is Dube’s mother.

Prosecutors allege that sometime during the period extending from 1 June 2022 to 2 January 2023 and at Kachechete Village, Chidobe under Chief Mvuthu, Sibanda had sexual intercourse with his stepdaughter Dube several times on different occasions with her consent.

The matter came to light when Mpofu discovered the affair and confronted her husband, who confessed.

Mpofu caught the two red-handed in a compromising position in a bush on December 27.

She reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the two.
