An archival footage contributor from Zimbabwe, Obvious Kazamula, 31, is in Kenya for the Patriotic Quiz and Footage Competition running until 13 January in the East African country.
If he emerges the overall winner, Kazamula will pocket US$40 000 in the competitions that have drawn 14 participants from different African countries.
Participants will present archival or old footages that may contain important historical information and will also go through quiz competitions in an event is taking place at the invitation of Historical Films Archives.
Topics covered in the quiz include immigration, patriotism, history of one’s country, old footages or images, tourism, religion and education.
Historical Films Archives is looking for unreleased old films.
Kazamula said he was introduced to the competition by a friend from South West News Service in 2020 and made his first trip to Kenya that year.
The Zimbabwean archival footage contributor said he is passionate about historical events. He inherited a library from a relative and since then, he started working as an archivist and has been in the industry for four years.
