DZ Eagles Crowned 2025 Harare Korfball League Champions

 

The Harare Korfball League concluded its season on Saturday with an exciting and memorable finish that celebrated both competitive excellence and the growing unity within the sport. DZ Eagles were crowned the champions after an impressive campaign that showcased their consistency, discipline, and remarkable team spirit. Mufakose Blaze secured second place, while Harare Tigers claimed a commendable third position, rounding off a highly competitive season.

Korfball coach Takudzwa Pedzai congratulated DZ Eagles for their achievement and commended the quality of play displayed throughout the season. Reflecting on the champions performance, he said, “DZ Eagles has done it again, 2025 season champs. In a season filled with fierce competition and thrilling moments, DZ Eagles Korfball Club has soared above the rest to stamp their dominance once again in the 2025 campaign. With skill, discipline, and unshakable team spirit, they have proven they are a force to reckon with.” He went on to say, “Congratulations DZ Eagles, the pride of the league.”

During the medal and trophy ceremony, Zimbabwe Korfball Federation President Tarirai Chadebah praised the Harare league for its continuous growth and dedication to improving standards in the sport. He encouraged players and clubs to keep working hard as the federation prepares for national team selection next year. Chadebah reminded athletes, “Make sure you are all registered players. You cannot be in the national team if you are not registered.” He also announced that the national team coach, along with the assistant coach, will be introduced in January.

Zimbabwe Korfball Federation Secretary General Angeline Kashangura added a deeper message to the event by highlighting the day’s focus on raising awareness against Gender Based Violence. She stated, “Today, we played for a cause. On the court, it was more than just passes and goals, it was a statement against Gender Based Violence. Through teamwork, unity, and passion, we stood together to say: NO to violence. YES to equality.”

The tournament matches produced engaging action and competitive results. DZ Eagles defeated Wolves 11 to 9, while Harare Tigers beat Chi Town Wildcats 10 to 3. Mufakose Blazers 1 won against Kuwadzana Phoenix 6 to 2, and Mufakosi Wolves defeated Mufakose Blazers 2 by 9 to 6. Harare Tigers later secured another win against Kuwadzana Phoenix with a score of 6 to 3.

The 2025 Harare Korfball season closed on a positive and uplifting note, celebrating not only the excellence displayed by its top teams but also the values of unity and social responsibility. With national team preparations set to intensify and participation continuing to grow, the future of korfball in Zimbabwe appears stronger and more promising than ever.
