
Zimbabwe and the United Arab Emirates are taking concrete steps to deepen economic cooperation following a courtesy visit by Zimbabwe-based Offshore Board Member of the Zimbabwe Business Council UAE, Wadzanayi Phiri, to the UAE Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Jassim Mohammed Al Qasimi.
The meeting, held last week in Harare, focused on strengthening bilateral trade and exploring new avenues for investment between the two countries. According to ZIBCO, the engagement highlighted several key areas considered crucial for boosting economic ties.
Ambassador Al Qasimi underscored the UAE Embassy’s renewed emphasis on economic diplomacy, noting that the mission is prioritising practical initiatives aimed at expanding trade and investment flows. He said the UAE is working to identify specific opportunities that can benefit both nations.

A significant part of the discussions centred on the UAE’s rising demand for high-quality agricultural products and minerals from Zimbabwe. Officials indicated that this presents meaningful prospects for Zimbabwean producers and exporters seeking to enter or expand within Gulf markets.
The meeting also emphasised the importance of consistent policy alignment and knowledge exchange.
Both parties agreed that improved communication on regulatory requirements, standards, and trade procedures will be essential to streamlining trade processes and unlocking value across priority sectors.
ZIBCO reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating such high-level engagements and serving as a bridge for Zimbabwean businesses seeking market access in the UAE. The organisation expressed appreciation for Ambassador Al Qasimi’s openness and the constructive dialogue.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Zimbabwe–UAE economic relations, which have expanded in recent years through increased trade, investment missions, and diplomatic cooperation.
