Four Nabbed Over Foiled Armed Robbery Plot at Harare Service Station

 

 

Four men including a petrol attendant have appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery after allegedly plotting to raid a service station in Highlands, Harare.

Dennis Madondo, 34, Tendai Zuze ,32, Tafadzwa Tembo ,23, and Blessing Mavhenyengwa ,35, appeared before magistrate Donald Ndirowei and were remanded in custody pending further proceedings.

Prosecutor Tendai Tapi told the court that sometime in November 2025, the quartet conspired to rob DA Service Station’s Runiville branch in Highlands.

Tembo, who works as a petrol attendant at the station, allegedly supplied his co-accused with inside information about cash movements within the company’s branches. Mavhenyengwa is alleged to have provided a firearm intended for use during the robbery.

On November 30, the accused reportedly conducted surveillance at the service station before proceeding to the home of a targeted employee in Belvedere.

Madondo and Zuze were arrested on December 4, and detectives recovered their cellphones, which contained messages allegedly linked to the robbery plan.

Tembo and Mavhenyengwa were arrested the following day. Police recovered an FN Browning pistol with five rounds of ammunition, along with a blowback TR17 blank pistol.

The court heard that none of the accused is licensed to possess firearms.

The four are expected to return to court as investigations continue.
