The wooded hills and rugged terrain of Guruve have been thrown into the national spotlight after police deployed drone technology in an escalating manhunt for a suspect linked to two separate multiple murder scenes in the district, one of them involving the killing of five members of the same family in a single night.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed that drones are now being used to scour the forests and mountainous areas surrounding Ona Farm in Guruve, where a gruesome family massacre occurred on the night of December 11, 2025. The suspect is believed to be hiding in the difficult terrain, prompting one of the most intensive rural manhunts seen in the area in recent years.
Police say the suspect, Anymore Zvitsva, allegedly murdered five members of one family at Plot 9, Ona Farm. The victims were identified as Grace Zvitsva, 66, Loice Chiringaushe, 37, Takudzwa Kariva, five, Tatenda Chirenje, two, and Tendai Zvitsva, 40.
The attack came to light after a neighbour was awakened by noise from the homestead and rushed to investigate with two other villagers. Bloodstains were observed at the kitchen doorstep, where Tendai Zvitsva was found unconscious and bleeding profusely from deep chest wounds. Further inspection revealed extensive bloodstains around the homestead and the bodies of Grace Zvitsva, Loice Chiringaushe, Takudzwa Kariva and Tatenda Chirenje lying in the main bedroom.
Tendai Zvitsva was rushed to Guruve Hospital where he died shortly after admission.
