Mukudzei Mukombe, a.k.a Jah Prayzah, on Friday visited the Chikurubi Maximum Female Prison where he entertained inmates and scouted for talent.
The artist is identifying talent behind bars with a view to record works by inmates.
Jah Prayzah in December visited the Harare Central Prison where he was also scouting for talent and entertaining inmates.
Nigel Mushapaidze, who is part of Jah Prayzah’s management said the primary purpose of the visit is to cheer up the inmates.
He also said most of the prisoners have potential which has been overridden by the crimes they committed.
The visits are part of singer’s project to collaborate with talented inmates and inspire them so that they can use their talents to take care of their families, even while they are still serving.
Mushapaidze added that they intend to nurture musical talent so that the jailed can earn a living through royalties even if they cannot hold shows.
Several musicians have toured prisons in the past, including Suluman Chimbetu, Nicholas Zakaria, Machanic Manyeruke, Leonard Zhakata, Ronnie Mudhindo, First Farai, Progress Chipfumo, Gift Amuli and Hubert Chigumura in 2013.
In 2017, ZPCS ambassador Suluman Chimbetu performed at the Chikurubi Maximum Prison during the Family Week along with Kapfupi, Guspy Warrior, Biggie Tembo and Franco Slomo.
