Tagwirei disowns WhatsApp groups as pressure over abitrary centre of power mounts

Businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei has dismissed and distanced himself from WhatsApp groups, social media pages and campaign materials circulating under his name, warning the public that the platforms are false and unauthorised.

This comes as Tagwireyi is facing mounting resistance within ZANU-PF for his perceived moves to create a centre of power outside the party's constitutional structures.

In a statement issued through his Public Relations Office,  Tagwirei said he is not associated with, nor has he sanctioned, any WhatsApp groups, social media accounts, flyers, posters or digital messages claiming to operate with his support or blessing.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei has no active political, economic empowerment, community or mobilisation programmes or campaigns running at this time,” the statement said.

The statement further stressed that  Tagwirei does not conduct official business or communicate through WhatsApp or any social media platforms, describing any messages or groups purporting to represent him as misleading.

In 2025, Tagwireyi was forced to disown X handles under his name which he claimed to have no connection with although they were releasing exclusive statements and images not in the public domain such as that of Tagwireyi and his wife in Nigeria.
