Majoni Sharpens Continental Edge as Otto Boxing’s Championship Blueprint Delivers

Tinashe Majoni (R)

World Boxing Federation super-flyweight Continental champion Tinashe Majoni continues to consolidate his status as one of Zimbabwe’s most consistent boxing exports, with a high-stakes preparatory bout in Tanzania. The assignment marks the latest chapter in an impressive reign since he claimed the continental crown.

Majoni is scheduled to fight in Dar es Salaam on February 14, a bout designed as a competitive tune-up ahead of his next continental title defence. It underscores a pattern that has defined his championship tenure – regular activity, measured progression and a clear international outlook.

Since being crowned WBF superfly continental champion, Majoni has steadily built momentum, combining discipline in training with calculated match-making that has kept him sharp while expanding his regional footprint. His willingness to test himself beyond Zimbabwe’s borders has been central to his growth, with each outing reinforcing his credentials as a serious contender on the African circuit.

“This fight in Tanzania is the perfect competitive step to ensure I am razor-sharp for my title defence. I am focused and ready,” Majoni said ahead of the trip.

The champion’s rise has been anything but accidental. Behind his progress stands Otto Boxing Club, the stable that has quietly but effectively positioned itself as one of the country’s most influential boxing institutions. Otto Boxing has provided Majoni with structure, consistent competition and international exposure – ingredients that have allowed talent to translate into tangible success.

That impact was formally recognised last year when Otto Boxing received an ANSA Award for Promoter of the Year, a nod to the stable’s growing reputation for professional organisation and fighter development. The award placed Otto Boxing in elite company and highlighted its role in elevating Zimbabwean boxing beyond domestic confines.

Crucially, the stable’s vision extends beyond headline champions. On the same day Majoni competes in Tanzania, Otto Boxing will also stage “Rivalry in Red,” an amateur tournament at Vainona High School, hosted by seasoned professional Freeman Mabvongwe. The event is aimed at nurturing emerging talent and strengthening grassroots boxing structures.

“‘Rivalry in Red’ is about building the foundation. We are committed to creating platforms where young fighters can shine and begin their journey,” Mabvongwe said.

For Majoni, that ecosystem offers stability and long-term promise. With a continental title already secured, regular international exposure and a stable committed to both elite and developmental boxing, the champion’s prospects appear firmly aligned with bigger regional and global opportunities.

As Otto Boxing continues to balance championship ambitions with grassroots investment, Majoni’s trajectory stands as a case study in what structured support and strategic planning can achieve. His upcoming bout in Tanzania is more than a warm-up – it is another measured step in a career that is being built with purpose, patience and ambition.
