Mugota Resigns as Jumbo Giants Coach

 

D Jumbo Giants head coach Justice Mugota Chasura has resigned from the club just one month after taking charge, following reported internal clashes over player recruitment.

Chasura’s sudden departure follows reported disagreements with the club’s executive committee over player recruitment. The coach was pushing for the signing of experienced players to strengthen the squad ahead of their debut top-flight campaign, while the executive preferred to maintain the core group that secured promotion from Division Two.

Among the players Chasura had recommended were Peace Makaha, Cleopas Kapupurika and Brilliant Chamisa, but the proposals were reportedly rejected as the club opted to prioritise local talent.

In his resignation letter dated 5 February 2026, Chasura confirmed his decision to step down.

"Please accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation as Head Coach of Jumbo Giants, effective 05 February 2026. I appreciate the opportunity to have led the team and wish the club all the best in its future endeavors," he wrote.

Jumbo Giants now face the urgent task of appointing a new head coach as they prepare for their maiden season in the league ,with the Northern Region Soccer League set to kick off in a few weeks,
