Zimbabwe Showcases Sports Tourism at the 19th Bonaqua Triathlon

Zimbabwe will once again take centre stage on the continental sporting calendar when it hosts the 19th edition of the Bonaqua Triathlon and Multisport Festival at Troutbeck Resort in Nyanga on 14 March 2026. Sanctioned by World Triathlon and Africa Triathlon, the event is the longest-running triathlon of its level on the African continent and continues to position Zimbabwe as a leading destination for international sport.

Officiating at the media launch, Deputy Minister of Sport Emily Jesaya emphasised the broader national value of the competition. “Government treasures the role of this event in enhancing Zimbabwe’s competitive attractiveness, drawing elite foreign athletes and visitors, and positioning our nation as a reliable destination for high-quality international sport,” she said. She added that the triathlon aligns with national branding priorities by “showcasing Zimbabwe’s scenic beauty, hospitality, safety, and organisational excellence to the global community.”

The event also shone a spotlight on its head sponsor, Schweppes Zimbabwe, whose flagship product, Bonaqua water, fuels the Triathlon. Ropafadzo Gwanetsa, Head of Corporate Affairs, expressed her enthusiasm: “We are proud to be the head sponsor of the Bonaqua Triathlon and to support athletes at every stage of the race. Hydration is the key to peak performance, and we are delighted to help competitors perform at their very best.” She also extended gratitude to Triathlon Zimbabwe President Ross O'Donoghue and his team for organising such a successful and memorable event.
