Jaison Muvhevhi has been assaulted by the police according to his lawyer.
The lawyer said this when Muvhevhi appeared in court today before magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure. Muvhevhi had swollen lips.
Jaison Muvhevhi stands accused of shooting three people dead, including a police officer. A fourth victim is hospitalised.

The lawyer said that Muvhevhi understands the gravity of matter before the court.
"He fully appreciates the nature of the allegations he is facing."
The State sought to have Muvhevhi’s case postponed to allow time for investigations:
“State applies that he be formally placed on remand on the charges he is facing. We apply that it be postponed to the 6th of February awaiting finalisation of investigations,” the state pleaded.
The magistrate granted the plea with Muvhevhi’s lawyer praying that the state would have concluded investigations by the date.
The magistrate advised Muvhevhi to approach the High Court for bail application.
