Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe has extended its Scholarship Fund to Mashonaland West Province, adding five students from Chinhoyi University of Technology to its growing list of undergraduate beneficiaries.
The latest intake brings the total number of students supported under the programme to 42, drawn from Manicaland, Midlands, Matabeleland and now Mashonaland West since the initiative was introduced.
The launch at CUT follows a similar rollout at National University of Science and Technology in Matabeleland Province last week and complements existing partnerships with Africa University and Midlands State University.
Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe Head of Brand and Marketing Tariro Memo said the financial institution places strong emphasis on supporting education as a driver of opportunity and economic development.
“Stanbic Bank is committed to promoting economic growth through empowering young people through education. We are therefore proud to partner with an institution such as Chinhoyi University of Technology which is known for nurturing innovation, entrepreneurship and technology-driven solutions that contribute meaningfully to national development,” she said.

Memo said the bank will sponsor five CUT students who demonstrate strong academic performance but face financial barriers to accessing higher education.
“The programme has also been designed with inclusion in mind and will see three scholarships being awarded to female students and two to male students, with priority given to students who are orphaned or from economically disadvantaged backgrounds,” she added.
CUT Acting Vice Chancellor William Musekiwa Goriwondo welcomed the initiative, saying it demonstrates the impact that collaboration between academia and the corporate sector can have in expanding educational opportunities.
“On behalf of the Chinhoyi University of Technology community, I extend our sincere appreciation to Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe Limited for its generosity and commitment to supporting higher education. This initiative represents not merely financial assistance, but a meaningful investment in human potential and the future development of our nation,” he said.
Goriwondo noted that many academically gifted students often fail to realise their potential due to financial constraints, adding that prioritising beneficiaries from Mashonaland West reflects a commitment to supporting local communities served by the university.
“Together, we are not merely funding education, we are shaping futures,” he said.
Under the programme, each of the five students will receive full tuition, accommodation and meals for the duration of their studies, allowing them to focus fully on their academic development.
