Durrel Nyazika, a fast-rising traditional Mbira musician, has just received a powerful endorsement that could shape his career trajectory. During a recent live online interview hosted by Mr Smooth, a UK-based events promoter, live host, and public speaker, Durrel was honoured with the titles of Advocate and Ambassador for the coming generation of Zimbabwean music.  

Mr Smooth praised Durrel’s artistry, highlighting his unique Chimurenga-flavoured sound and his ability to articulate himself with confidence and vision. He described Durrel as not only a talented musician but also an outspoken voice who understands the cultural weight of Zimbabwe’s original music traditions.  

Nyazika’s music carries the spiritual resonance of the Mbira, weaving ancestral sounds with contemporary storytelling. Known for his eloquence and passion, he uses his platform to champion cultural pride and social dialogue. Nyazika’s performances are not just entertainment—they are a call to remember heritage, uplift communities, and embrace Zimbabwe’s musical identity with renewed energy.

What makes this recognition even more significant is Mr Smooth’s broader mission: he is actively working to uplift Zimbabwean female musicians, whom he believes are often overlooked despite their immense talent.
