The Africa Cestoball Association is inviting more African countries to take up cestoball as the sport rapidly expands across the continent.
Speaking to Zim Now at the Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka, Zambia, Africa Cestoball Association President Amon Madzvamuse highlighted the sport's growing competitive edge.
“Most countries, it is high time you join this association because cestoball is becoming competitive. This is our second international tournament after we started with Kenya, which was hosted in Zimbabwe, and we have plans to host many more tournaments across Africa,” said Madzvamuse.
The ongoing effort reflects strong cooperation between Zimbabwe and Zambia, both of which are working together to build platforms for young athletes.
To help sustain this growth, Zimbabwe Cestoball Association president Annah Maria called for outside financial and logistical backing.

“We are calling upon corporates and embassies to come on board and partner with us so that we can continue developing our athletes and create more opportunities for young people through cestoball,” said Maria.
The latest tournament in Zambia featured intense matches across several age groups. Zimbabwe’s senior boys secured a victory against Zambia, while Zambia won against Zimbabwe in the senior ladies, Under-15 boys and girls, and Under-17 boys and girls divisions.
Despite the mixed results, coaches praised the effort and character of their teams. Zimbabwe boys coach Innocent Kanosvova commended his squad’s performance and conduct.
“The boys played very well. They have a bright future ahead, and what makes me proud is that they are disciplined both on the court and outside the court,” said Kanosvova.
Zimbabwe ladies coach Emencildah Muyengi also commended her players for staying focused under pressure.
“The girls showed composure, listened to instructions, and maintained discipline throughout the matches,” she said.
