The Zimbabwe National Water Authority has said communities downstream of Rusape Dam should be very alert as the dam has recorded quite significant inflows due to intensive rains within its catchment area over the weekend.
In a notice, Zinwa said outflows from the dam, whose floodgates were already open, have increased and communities downstream are advised to be on very high alert.
As of February 6, 2023, national dam levels stood at 86.7 percent while Mazowe Dam continues to rise and is now 87.2 percent full.
Zinwa said Tugwi-Makosi is now 92,1 percent full, Lake Mutirikwi 94,6 percent, Manyame 79,9 percent, Osborne 74,6 percent, Mazvikadei 75,9 percent, Manyuchi 83,0 percent, Manjirenji 58,0 percent, Sebakwe 76,7 percent, Chivero 85,5 percent, Insiza 64,2 percent, Zhove 77,3 percent, Arcadia 93,2 percent, Mtshabezi 69,0 percent, Masembura 101,0 percent and Silalabuhwa 74,9 percent.
