KidzCan Zimbabwe has joined the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Global Alliance for international networking, support, educational opportunities and the inspiration of global shared mission in finding cures and saving children globally.

The announcement was made by KidzCan Zimbabwe Executive Director Daniel Mckenzie on the International Childhood Cancer Day yesterday.

Mckenzie said they were joining more than 180 esteemed, members from more than 68 countries. There are 14 other new partners from different countries including Zambia, India, Mongolia, Moldova and Chile.

“Being voted into the Global Alliance is an honour. Global foundation partners must be assessed, recommended and sponsored by American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities, the fundraising and awareness organisation of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and must meet several criteria to show evidence of their commitment to and impact on paediatric cancer outcomes.

“St. Jude Global Alliance is a global movement in paediatric cancer that brings together individuals and institutions dedicated to the shared vision of improving the quality of healthcare delivery and increasing survival rates of children with cancer and blood disorders worldwide,” Mckenzie said.

Launched in 2018, St. Jude Global is committed reducing global disparities in access to care through the development of comprehensive initiatives in capacity building, education and research across seven regions. Each of the partners fundraises for their respective country.

Members of the Alliance support the belief that every child, everywhere deserves the chance to live regardless of race, religion or the ability to pay.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is one of the largest, most respected paediatric cancer research hospitals in the world and is non-profit making. No family receives a bill from the hospital, ever. St. Jude treats about 8,600 patients a year, including patients from around the world. Over the last 60 years, their research and treatments have helped raise paediatric cancer survival rates in the US from 20% to 80% and even 94% for some types of cancer. As part of the global mission to save children everywhere, St. Jude is investing over $100M in the global initiatives.
