Valentine’s Day for many is a day for lovers, where they celebrate their love and relationships, by buying each other presents.

Some have been all over social media trying first dates, either succeeding or flopping.

But for Port Elizabeth-based Zimbabwean musician Chris Million Masocha and his Live Wire Band, there was need to give a different present to couples – both in marriage and those planning to marry.

This they did by releasing a sungura single titled Mhanduwe Musadaro on Tuesday February 14, on which the world marks Valentine’s Day.

Chris Million says the idea was to remind people that while in love, they should remember that faithfulness cements relationships.

“We did not think of flowers and other items but decided on this offering because people tend to forget the basis of love and relationships and also how these can be long lasting. There is nothing new really. We are only reminding our audiences of the importance of real love,” said Million, adding that the Valentine’s timing was no coincidence as this is a day that lovers always remember every year.

Different creatives have come up with different messages in their works but for Million, the major focus of his track is to remind listeners that one-night stands can change your life for good.

Written by Chris Million and recorded by Jabulani Ndlovu at True Tone Studios (formerly Gramma Studios), Mhanduwe Musadaro is set to become a bonus track on Chris Million’s forthcoming seven-track album titled Haribude Rakamirirwa, which is expected to be released around October.

There is nothing new in the message of the song as it is an exhortation against sexual promiscuity and avoiding multiple sex partners.

“We are not re-inventing the wheel on this single. It is a decades-old message for people to stick to one partner and appreciate their partners. You can make money together, prostitution does not help; the end result is sickness,” said Chris Million who is the Live Wire Kings frontman.

Led by Chris Million, the other members of the Live Wire Kings on Mhanduwe Musadaro are Divice Chisaka and Douglas Inusa on rhythm; Tito Lokilo (lead); Taf Lion (Bass); Tinashe Mbizeni Arizona (Drums); as well as Watson Fundula (Backing vocals).
