A woman from Plumtree was slapped with a four-month jail term with the option of a ZWL$30 000 fine after she was found with explosives in her tuckshop in Mphoengs, in the western border town.

Sikhathele Moyo, 37, appeared before Plumtree magistrate Arafat Khozanani and she pleaded guilty to charges of illegal possession of explosives without a permit.

The eleven detonators, which Moyo claimed were meant for use at a mine, were found in her tuckshop in the Mphoengs area when police searched her shop.

She also claimed that she was just keeping them safe at her shop.
