A fight over mangoes ended fatally when a brother killed his sister’s husband following a misunderstanding over the fruit.

John Munjanja, 52, from Bhudhe Village in Chirumhanzu struck his brother-in-law with a log several times on the upper body and the latter succumbed to injuries leading to Munjanja’s arrest.

The facts of the matter are that on January 22, Munjanja visited his sister Muchaneta Munjanja, 49, who resides in the same village with him. Munjanja was then given mangoes from the orchard by his sister but this did not go down well with Muchaneta’s husband Samson Maredzva, 42.

Maredzva told Munjanja that he was being given the mangoes against his will and this led to a misunderstanding and resultantly the fight and subsequent death.

The body of the now deceased was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital.
