Rimbi Travel and Tours, a commuter transport operator which recently had its license suspended after a fatal accident, had one of its buses again involved in another road tragedy which claimed two lives.

The bus was on its way to Lilongwe, Malawi, from Harare. It collided with a motorcycle near Mutoko Centre and both passengers on the smaller vehicle died on the spot while no injuries were reported on the part of passengers on the bus.

The Tuesday, February 28, road traffic accident follows the one which involved a bus from the same company and another from Tashllyrt Investiments (Pvt)LTD operating as Zebra Kiss.

Following an outcry, both operators had their licenses suspended after their buses were captured in a video, racing along the Harare-Nyamapanda route.

The fatal accident left the Rimbi bus conductor dead while several passengers were injured.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona, later lifted Rimbi’s license ban after it had submitted comprehensive measures that had been put in place by the operator to avert such incidents in future.

Efforts were also made by stakeholders in the passenger transport sector to resolve the route conflict between Rimbi Travel and Tours Pvt Ltd and Tashllyt Investments.
