It appears prominent gold buyer Scott Sakupwanya has cast his eyes wider and has developed an interest in top-flight football following reports that he is on the verge of concluding a deal to take over Yadah FC.
Zim Now Sports is reliably informed that Sakupwanya is making the imminent take-over through his Better Brands Holdings company.
Negotiations are believed to be at an advanced stage with the Walter Magaya-owned team expected to exchange hands.
Lawyer Everson Chatambudza is believed to be the deal broker since he serves as legal counsel for both parties.
“Scott (Sakupwanya) is interested in Yadha FC and negotiations are at an advanced stage with the Walter Magaya camp.
“Scott is a football enthusiast who has been sponsoring so many football activities in Mabvuku and now he believes he has to join the PSL clubs,” revealed a source close to the goings-on.
Scott was even spotted at the Yadah FC match as part of the supporters’ camp.
The source added that seasoned football administrator and former Gunners and CAPS United boss, Cuthbert Chitima, will be in charge and if the deal sails through the new owners will rebrand.
“The club will be rebranded.
“A lot of names have been thrown into the hat but it is most likely to be called Gunners Chando Kupisa and the provisional logo colours resemble those of EPL club Arsenal although the management is still debating," said our source.
Yadah FC has been in financial doldrums and had resorted to trials for it to acquire a squad to participate in this season’s top-flight football jamboree.
Efforts to get an official comment from authorities from both parties hit a snag as their mobile phones were not reachable at the time of writing.
