A mob reportedly assaulted a suspected thief to death in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The incident happened at a house along Bise Crescent in Zengeza 1, Chitungwiza, where the deceased reportedly entered the yard and broke into a vehicle with the intention of stealing car parts.
Police confirmed the incident, saying: “Police in Harare have arrested Tawanda Kawondera, 31, and Walter Munjeya, 31, in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 22/03/23 at around 0300hrs at a certain house along Bise Street, Zengeza 1, in Chitungwiza.
“The suspects joined a mob and took turns to assault to death the victim, Last Kandishaya, 40, for allegedly breaking the windscreen of a Toyota Hiace vehicle which was parked in the yard,” police said in a statement.
Meanwhile, police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of his mother in Binga on Tuesday, accusing her of witchcraft.
“Meanwhile, police in Kamativi have arrested Sumayili Juma, 34, in connection with a case of murder which occurred on 21/03/23 at Kilima 19, Simbala Village, Binga.
“The suspect struck his mother with an axe on both shoulders and head after accusing her of witchcraft,” police said.
